Daily Report – 6/11/25

Here is today’s report:

Yankees

After Yankees losses this season, Max Fried boasts a 0.83 ERA across eight starts. With a 10-2 win against the Royals last night, the Yankees have 40 wins on the season.

Aaron Judge’s 469-foot bomb lit the sky in Kansas City, but the Yankees’ battery was the true royal couple. Max Fried allowed just two runs across seven innings, and Austin Wells posted his first career five-RBI game. He hit a three-run home run and a two-run double.

“You walk into starting 16 in a row and have your ace go out there and give you seven,” said Aaron Boone. Fried’s performance not only helped the Yankees win this game, but his length provided much-needed bullpen assistance as Boone only had to use two relievers.

In the sixth inning, the Yankees pounded the lefty Noah Cameron, who entered the game with a 0.85 ERA. Jazz Chisholm doubled to right field, and with two outs, he stole third base and DJ LeMahieu walked before Austin Wells drilled the 10th pitch he saw for a two-run double. Then, Paul Goldschmidt, Trent Grisham, Aaron Judge, and Cody Bellinger each singled to put the Bombers ahead 10-1. Bellinger’s hit marked the 1,000th of his career.

While stealing third base, Chisholm dove in awkwardly against Maikel Garcia, hurting his neck in the process. During last year’s ALDS, Chisholm was labeled as an enemy in Kansas City, much of which was due to his interactions with Garcia. After Garcia’s attempted tag last night, Chisholm angrily chirped something to the extent of, “Tag me like that one more time” in a threatening tone. Chisholm is expected to be available to play tonight for the Yankees, and the continuation of the narrative between him and Garcia will be interesting to follow.

Switching back to Aaron Judge – and why not – his first-inning 469-foot 117.9 mph two-run moonshot rolled over the left field scoreboard and out of the physical ballpark. “That was evaporated,” said Aaron Boone. “He’s playing in a different league. He needs to get called up.”

Tonight at 7:40 PM, the Yankees will send RHP Clarke Schmidt (2-3, 4.04 ERA) to the mound against LHP Kris Bubic (5-3, 1.43 ERA) as they look to win the series against Kansas City (Prime Video).
