Daily Report – 1/21/25

Greetings,

Here is today’s report:

Yankees

Former Yankees players CC Sabathia and Ichiro Suzuki were elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame this afternoon.

Rangers

Tonight at 7 PM, the Rangers will host Ottawa to begin a four-game homestand (MSG). This game is important to the Rangers, for they rank four points behind Ottawa and Boston for the first and second Wild Card spots. The Rangers currently carry an eight-game point streak (5-0-3) and will play seven of their next eight games at home.

Fans on Rangers X seem to believe the team is “up to something.” Perhaps a trade is on the horizon, although the lines for today's game are the same as they were in the previous four games.

Catch tonight’s game at 7 PM (6 PM CST) on MSG. Also, happy birthday to Jonathan Quick and K’Andre Miller!

Knicks

The Knicks beat Atlanta at the Garden yesterday afternoon. This time the dice rolled in Jalen Brunson’s favor as he put up 34 points on the Hawks. The Knicks won this game 119-110.

When the Knicks lost to the Hawks in the In-Season Tournament, Trae Young rolled some imaginary dice in center court as a celebration for winning a trip to Vegas. This time, though, the Knicks got their revenge, although Brunson claimed he wasn't seeking any.

This was one of their best defensive performances in months as they forced Atlanta to turn the ball over 23 times. Did they rally around the return of Karl-Anthony Towns, or around getting back at Trae Young?

Josh Hart scored 14 points. Mikal Bridges erupted in the second half and finished the day with 26 points.

Speaking of rivalries, the Knicks will play the second half of a back-to-back tonight at 7:30 PM (6:30 PM CST) in Brooklyn against the Nets. The Knicks won their last game over Brooklyn 114-104.

Nets general manager Sean Marks was drafted 44th overall by the Knicks in 1998. Mikal bridges played for Brooklyn from 2022-24. Brooklyn’s Bojan Bogdanovic played for the Knicks last season. Also, Trendon Watford, Keon Johnson, and Josh Hart all played together in Portland between 2021 and 2023.

Catch tonight's game at 7:30 PM (6:30 PM CST) on TNT, TruTV, and MAX.

Schedule

7:00 PM (6:00 PM CST): NYR vs. OTT; MSG

7:30 PM (6:30 PM CST): NYK at BKN; TNT, TRUTV, MAX

That will do it for this report. Enjoy your evening.
